The Czech manufacturer has released the official images of its Skoda Yeti, a compact SUV that is possibly going on a head-on collision with the Ford Kuga. The Skoda compact SUV is a 4.2 meter long 5-door hatch that was derived from a mixture of FWD hardware and chassis parts from the Fabia and Octavia. The production model resembles very closely the concept version and the beefy appearance is further enhanced by 17 inch alloy wheels. The Yeti will come with a lineup of five engine options two of which are gasoline-powered and the other three are diesel.
For the entry-level model it will come with the 1.2 liter TSI engine generating 103bhp and is only offered with front-wheel-drive configuration. The FWD gasoline version utilizes the 1.8 liter turbocharged gasoline unit that produces 158 hp. All of the diesel units are common-rail with the basic generating 109 hp and is offered only with two-wheel drive; while the other more powerful versions, coming with 138 hp and 168 hp, are four-wheel-drive. For practicality, the Yeit provides a 1,760 liter luggage space with the rear seats folded down, and it comes with a luggage cover and cargo net feature. Available for sale by September, no details have been provided concerning pricing or trim levels.
