Last Tuesday, May 12, the first of the Skoda Yetis came off the production line at the Skoda's facility in Kvasiny, Czech Republic. The Yeti that was first observed to have come out of production was a four-wheel-drive Aqua Blue unit with a 1.8 TSI powerplant under the hood. The Yeti was designed for the way people use cars, a design principle that Skoda uses for all its models. Included in the smart solutions are flexible and practical VarioFlex rear seat system that conveniently boost rear luggage capacity up to 1,760 liters maximum. There were a series of final pre-production tests Skoda did earlier on the Yeti with Oslo, Norway as the venue of the last test stages. The area around Oslo comes with road surfaces very much like those seen on both inside and outside all European countries. The diverse road and weather conditions were utilized by the test team to evaluate some of the important systems of the car including the driving stability system, and the performance of the ventilation and air conditioning systems.
Essential information was gathered from the tests that show the interaction between the individual control units, the chassis parameters and acoustic comfort together with traits of the off-road elements. The models evaluated in Oslo were both 4x4 models that came with a 1.8 TSI gasoline and a 2.0 TDI diesel unit. The cars were tested on forest roads and extreme downhill tracks employing the downhill assistant, which provides total control on extremely steep slopes. With a 180mm ground clearance plus a fourth-generation Haldex clutch system, the Yeti provides outstanding on-road and off-road capabilities and a combination of economy and low carbon emissions, making it the ideal crossover vehicle. The dimensions of the Yeti are as follows; it is 2.578 meters long, 4.233 meters wide and 1.691 meter high. The Yeti, a state-of-the-art, smart crossover that merges all-wheel drive with the practicality of the hatch, will hit the market in the middle of September in the UK.
