Special gathering to mark the 30th anniversary of Bmw 3-Series announced

Bmw 3-Series 2nd Generation

There will be a special gathering to mark the 30th anniversary of the second generation of the BMW 3 Series. It will take place on June 14 to 19 and it will be organized by the BMW 3 Series Club (E21/E30) e.V. The event’s highlight is a visit to the BMW Group on June 16. The public will get the chance to look at the more than 50 vehicles of the participants. Watch out for them outside the BMW Museum on Petuelring between 1 pm and 5 pm. At this time, Club members will be there to respond to any questions that visitors may have. Aside from being able to tour the BMW Museum, the more than 100 participants will get the chance to view the car collection at BMW Group Classic (which is usually closed to the public), where the 3 Series models will be seen in the morning.

The idea for this series was conceived in 1982, just seven years after the first-generation 3 Series was successfully launched. Its sales have surpassed a million while the second generation of the BMW 3 Series was already being planned. The new range is different from its predecessor since it is offered with a long array of model variants. At the showrooms, there are two-door and four-door models, full convertible and touring variants, and even all-wheel-drive versions. In the 1980s, this diverse portfolio was the first of its kind.

By 1983 (its first full production year), BMW was able to boost the output by 50%. From producing 800 BMW 3 Series models daily, the mostly automated production process could now roll out 1,200 units. Furthermore, BMW provided a fuel-efficient BMW 3 Series diesel model and the BMW M3 sports version. Even today, the ultimate sports sedan is epitomized by the “pinnacle of the 3 Series range,” which was created by BMW Motorsport GmbH for the DTM. It has retained its title as the most successful touring car in the world.
