Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder

Spyker revealed today the brand new C8 Aileron Spyder, the convertible version of the C8 Aileron which was unveiled at this year's Geneva Motor Show. According to the manufacturer, the new design of the car represents the latest evolution of Spykers signature architecture, clearly inspired by the firms aviation heritage. The all aluminum space-frame chassis was redesigned from scratch with the objective to increase torsional rigidity and to incorporate an all-new suspension system designed and supplied by Lotus. Also the dimensions of the car have been highly optimized to provide more interior space and to accommodate an optional automatic gearbox.

The Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder comes with a hydraulically powered, semiautomatic soft-top capable to transform the car from a coupe in a convertible in just 20 seconds. The soft-top is automatically stowed away under a tonneau cover with two buttresses upholstered in quilted Hulshof leather (matching the car's interior) and featuring the company's motto "Nulla Tenaci Invia Est Via" ("For the tenacious, no road is impassable") and will be available in 8 colors, so you can be sure you will have a stylish car.

Under the hood we find the same Audi 4.2-liter V8 engine capable to develop 400 hp and 480 Nm of torque but Spyker did not reveal the official performance figures. The Aileron Spyder features a luggage rack, CNC-machined from solid billets of aluminium, mounted immediately behind the roll hoops, on which a wing-shaped aluminium case is strapped. The case is trimmed in the same quilted leather as the interior and buttresses. We will expect a new press release with these numbers and the official prices and as soon as we will receive them we will let you know!
