Spyker D8 Peking-to-Paris SSUV coming to the Frankfurt Motor Show

Spyler D8 Peking-to-Paris SSUVDutch supercar company Spyker says plans are on track to launch several models in the coming years despite the snags it has hit the past year with financial setbacks and management reshuffles. We have witnessed the introduction of the long-wheelbase C8 Aileron and a preview of the upcoming C8 Aileron Spyder. Soon, Spyker will add a new ‚ÄòSuper Sport Utility Vehicle‚Äô to that list in the form of the production version of 2006‚ D12 Peking-to-Paris concept car. Victor Muller, then President of the company‚ management board, said during an investor conference last year that the production version of the D12 would be launched in 2009. Various reports have been saying that it may make its world debut at next month‚ Frankfurt Auto Show. Continued after the jump! With Spyker focusing on the East European market and emerging markets like China and the Middle East, it now has to respond to buyers‚Äô demands for performance vehicles with off-road capability. Many of the roads in these markets are often in poor condition and nearly impossible to navigate with low-slung supercars. This is one of the key reasons we‚Äôve seen vehicles like the new X6 and the more recent Aston Martin Lagonda Concept. Little is known about Spyker‚ new SSUV but designers have reportedly decided to change the originally planned powerplant from a Volkswagen-sourced 6.0-liter W-12 engine to something from America - with GM‚ LS line of V-8s most likely on the cards, necessitating the expected name change to D8.
