SsangYong reveals the new C200 Eco and Aero Concepts

The Korean carmaker SsangYong has removed the wraps around its par of new concept cars at the Seoul Motor Show, providing previews to a new production version the company is hoping it can make available before this year ends.
The new show cars are a development of the C200 crossover concept vehicle from last year and are described as almost ready for production. The new production car, which is expected to carry the C200 designation, the newest crossover concept by SsangYong has been designed by the famous ItalDesign studio by Giugiaro and will come at about the same size of its two chief rivals ‚ the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. The Korean carmaker calls this new C200 a CUV, for Compact Urban Vehicle. More details and photos after the jump!
The new model is using a monocoque construction to guarantee a passenger car appearance, sensation and comfort, distinct from the current SsangYong models. It is equipped with an adaptable platform and the chassis can be used for both FWD and AWD application in both cars and SUVs. Featured on the new crossover is a newly developed chassis that comes with aluminum suspension components and the most current electronic stability control and suspension management systems. Source of power for the Eco version (green) comes from an advanced 2.0-liter diesel unit that generates 175hp (131kW) and coupled it to a new 6-speed automatic transmission.
SsangYong‚ C200 Aero comes with a choice of the Eco‚ diesel or a 1.8-liter turbo 4-cylinder good for the same potency yield. SsangYong will also be showing the Kyron diesel-hybrid SUV at the Seoul Auto Show. It is equipped with a diesel hybrid technology applies an electric motor to an advanced direct-injection diesel unit, with a high-voltage battery providing extra energy. SsangYong has independently developed a ‚ÄòTorque Split Device‚Äô (TSD) that combines or cut off the power of the electric motor to provide a smooth switching between the diesel-hybrid‚ dual power source or combine them whichever is desired by the user.
