Steve Saleen wants to prevent new owners from using his name

Steve Saleen filed a lawsuit on July 17 in California against the current owners of the Saleen brand, seeking to prevent them from using the Saleen name. Steve Saleen gave up control of Saleen, Inc. in 2003 and left the company in 2007. MJ Acquisitions, an investment group led by Michael Shields, bought the Saleen brand, name and some of its assets earlier this year. The conflict arose when MJ Acquisitions said it would not honor warranties on Saleen products built prior to the purchase. Shields has since then revealed that the group is working on a way to do so. Saleen Performance Vehicles will unveil its first new product, a performance Mustang, at Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach, S.C. A second version is due next spring.
