Subaru will introduce its first hybrid vehicle in 2012

According to the latest reports, it appears that Subaru will add its first hybrid vehicle in 2012 in order to meet the new emissions regulations and to improve the fuel economy average of its fleet. Ikuo Mori, president of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., maker of Subaru brand cars, said that the gasoline-electric drivetrain will be offered as a version of an existing model line. Although an U.S. debut was not yet confirmed, Mori said that the new car will help Subaru meet tougher U.S. fuel economy that are set to begin in 2016. We have to tell you that the new hybrid drivetrain will be built using technology from Toyota Motor Corp., which owns 16.5 percent of Fuji Heavy.
