Subaru working on a sporty SUV! Forester WRX on its way?

According to firm’s managing director Nick Senior, it appears that Subaru is set to launch a sporty SUV next month, at the Sydney Motor Show. Although no details were released by Senior, the most likely candidate for this job appears to be the popular Forester compact SUV.

For those who don’t know, Subaru has had an STI version of the Forester on the Japanese market, but this new model will not wear the STI badge. The Forester STI was powered by the same engine found on the Impreza WRX STI but delivering more power than the sporty hatchback. The 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder, DOHC turbo engine of the Forester STI delivered 265 bhp and 378 Nm of torque (279 lb-ft). Also, the car featured a high performance braking system fitted with Brembo components in order to deliver better performances. [via Sydney Morning Herald]
