The resignation of American Suzuki Motor Corp.'s top marketing and public relations executive has led to a restructuring of its sales and marketing department. The resignation of Gene Brown, vice president of marketing and public relations, was effective on Nov. 1, according to Suzuki spokesman Jeff Holland. It was in March 2006 that Brown joined Suzuki. He previously held marketing positions with Nissan North America and Ford Motor Co. Holland will assume Brown's responsibilities.
Holland was promoted to associate director of public relations, and Steve Younan was promoted to director of marketing, product planning and sales training. Suzuki’s sales rose by 17% in October, its first monthly sales gain since early 2008.
But when looking the first 10 months of 2010, Suzuki’s sales fell by 46% compared to the year-ago period. Brown said that he realizes that he has to “make room to let others add to the party,” and that he believes his successors will “hopefully carry Suzuki to continued gains building on what they achieved in October.” [via autonews - sub. required]
