2010 Maserati GranCabrio at the Frankfurt Motor Show

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

2010 Maserati GranCabrioThis is the 2010 Maserati GranCabrio, which was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It will go on sale next March after several years of revisions to the car’s size and mechanical make-up.The new Maserati GranCabrio, is essentially a GranTurismo minus the roof rather than the shorter car that was originally developed.

That car formed the basis of the Ferrari California, retaining the first Maserati’s folding hard-top.. The convertible Maserati now has a fabric roof instead, which will help to compensate for the extra bracing that engineers will have added to retain the car’s stiffness. That bracing will add weight, and with the GranTurismo S weighing in at 1880kg, the GranCabrio could get very close to two tonnes. As a result it uses the more powerful 4.7-litre V8 from the GranTurismo S, with 433bhp at 7000rpm and 362lb ft at 4750rpm. Maserati’s torque converter automatic gearbox will be available with paddle shifters. There’s no confirmation of performance from Maserati but expect it to be slightly slower than a GranTurismo S; it should crack 0-60mph in around 5.5sec and a top speed of around 180mph.

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

2010 Opel Astra LexmaulThe Opel tuner Lexmaul did not waste any time creating its own spin to the new 2010 Opel Astra, which had its public debut only days ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Lexmaul has brought out its first tuning package for the new vehicle from Rüsselsheim. For now, the tuner is only offering visual modifications.

To improve the face of the new Opel Astra, it was fitted with a new radiator grill. A grill in the color of the vehicle takes the place of the Opel logo. If you’re willing to pay extra, you can have this supplied in real carbon. The Astra’s headlights have been given an almost traditional covering for the “evil eye.” Spoiler corners add to the appeal of the standard front spoiler. More details and photos after the jump!

2010 Opel Astra in red and white at the Frankfurt Motor Show

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

2010 Opel Astra IAAThese are the latest shots of the 2010 Opel Astra taken by regular cameras and not the automaker’s own glitzy press shots. While other cars might not look as great on non-official photos, the 2010 Opel Astra really does look every bit as dashing and attractive as it had been made out to be.

The new Astra’s interior furnishings are truly a major improvement from the current model’s boring styling. Fans might be disappointed to know that the 2010 Astra won’t be coming to the US as a Saturn like the previous model; however, GM has promised to bring the latest Delta-based car to American shores (most likely in sedan form) wearing the trademark Buick badge and chrome waterfall grille. These plans are not expected to change now that GM has offloaded a majority stake in Opel to Magna. Photo gallery after the jump!
