2011 Kia CadenzaThe first car to receive Kia’s new direct-injection gasoline engine is likely to be the 2011 Cadenza, the replacement for the Amanti large sedan. The Cadenza was unveiled last week in South Korea but is set to go on sale in North America in 2011.

Spokesman Michael Choo said that after production of the Amanti ends this year, it won’t be long before inventories run out, and it’s likely that US dealers won’t have a large sedan to offer until the Cadenza arrives. Until the Cadenza arrives at dealerships, the mid-sized Optima will serve as Kia’s biggest sedan. Continued after the jump!

Official: 2011 Kia Cadenza

2011 Kia CadenzaKia Motors Corp. unveiled its new model called the Cadenza in South Korea recently. The Cadenza, which replaces Kia’s Amanti large sedan that ended production months ago, goes on sale there this year and in North America in 2011.

In a release, Kia disclosed that the five-seat Cadenza is shorter than the Amanti but has a longer wheelbase delivering more interior space. The car will be manufactured at Kia’s Hwasung assembly plant in South Korea. The Korean edition has been confirmed to have a 3.5-liter V-6 engine. The carmaker has yet to finalize the engine specifications for its North American version. As soon as the inventories run out for the Amanti, the US dealers will not have a large sedan and consumers will have to wait until the Cadenza arrives in 2011. Spokesman Michael Choo said that in the meantime, the mid-sized Optima will be Kia’s biggest sedan. The global auto show debut for the Cadenza will take place on Dec. 12 at the Riyadh Motor Show in Saudi Arabia. More details and photos after the jump!

2011 Kia Cadenza revealed

2011 Kia CadenzaThese are the first pictures of the Kia Cadenza, the unit that replaces the Kia Amanti. Earlier this year, the VG Concept car was unveiled at the Seoul Auto Show. Its production version named the Kia Cadenza doesn’t have the Amanti’s retro-English styling and instead, makes use of strong character lines and muscular flared fenders to update the car.

The Cadenza features a prominent grille and elegant jewel-like headlights with LED surrounds. A shapely shoulder is created due to the character line starts just above the headlamps, and runs all the way to the car’s posterior. Unfortunately, we only got a copy of the front. We could only guess at how Cadenza’s rear and interior look like. Continued after the jump!
