Yes it is true! These facts were revealed by Marcel Beci, Aston Martin’s General Manager on European Operations in a recent interview with the Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf. It appears that in no way the upcoming Rapide Sedan will not receive a V8 engine because the manufacturer wants power and only the V12 can offer this.

The new Rapide will receive the V12 engine from the DB9, but the source didn’t want to spoil the surprise and we will find this only when the car will be officially launched. According to Beci, the new vehicle will not be just a sedan with big engine, this was designed as a real sports car but with four doors. The new sedan is expected to come with a price tag of 250,000! When will we see it? Few sources confirm its debut at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, but if will not appear then at the Frankfurt Auto Show it will be the most attractive vehicle! The latest photo release of the Aston Martin Rapide super-saloon came ahead of its opening this coming autumn. The super-saloon, which is patterned on a long-wheelbase DB9 chassis, is propelled by a 480 hp, 6.0-liter V12 and costs about £140,000.

It should be expected to be slotted between the DB9 and DBS in the company’s lineup. The super-saloon, which closely resembles the concept exhibited at the Detroit Motor Show ins 2006, will come with a 6-speed ZF automatic equipped with Aston Martin’s Touchtronic control. With the exception of its newly added styling line found on the front wing and door, the car basically is in keeping with the attractive, swooping appearance of the original concept with sharper shoulders and hood folds. With only a single broad lower air intake cavity, the front apron highlights a much neater look. Taking the DB9’s wheelbase and extending it by 255mm, the Aston Martin Rapide super-saloon is currently in the saloon standard length of 5 meters just like the Mercedes S-Class category. Another photo with the new Aston Martin Rapide sedan emerged on the web showing us the rear of the vehicle. As you can see the rear has almost the same design as the V8 Vantage but the resemblance stops here. Unfortunately we have no data regarding the specifications of the car but according to the rumors on the web it is likely to find a 6.0-liter V12 engine capable to deliver over 500 hp and providing a top speed of over 180 mph or 290 km/h.
