Audi E-Tron Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show
Thursday, September 17th, 2009
If the powertrain on this Audi e-tron concept succeeds in terms of range, performance, and durability, it could very well lead to the realization of plans to put an electric car on sale. The Audi E-Tron Concept is currently on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
It is speculated that the Audi E-Tron would hint of a Porsche Boxster-sized sports car — the much-rumored R4. However, an Audi source suggests that it is not its main role. He said that they don’t know yet when the electric road car will be released but that the significance of the e-tron concept is that Audi will develop an “electric road car in the future when the technology is right.” The e-tron is 4.26m long and 1.9m wide that puts it shorter and wider than a Boxster. It makes it possible then that after VW’s takeover of Porsche, a platform-sharing deal with Audi is imminent. Continued after the jump!
