Dacia Duster to be based on the Nissan Qashqai

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Dacia Duster ConceptSince it was formed, the Renault-Nissan tandem has been quite beneficial to both carmakers. And this mutual benefit will continue in the future after talks came out that Dacia, which is owned by Renault, will pattern its first SUV ever after the highly successful Nissan Qashqai.

The information that is available says that Dacia will be taking advantage of its relationship with Nissan by utilizing some components and dimensions featured in the Qashqai for the production model of its Duster concept shown in the last Geneva Motor Show. The production version will be 4.25 meters long, 1.49 meters high, and will be utilizing a 1.5dCi powerplant that generates 105hp (77kW) and 240Nm of torque. The design of the Duster is drastically radical for Dacia and it consists of features like high-mounted side mirrors and rear lights that have a wraparound design. It is of note that the Dacia SUV will not have a Sandero Stepway connection. Photo gallery after the jump!
