2010 Geneva Motor Show: Peugeot SR1 Concept

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Peugeot SR1 ConceptPeugeot’s SR1 Concept was officially revealed at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. This model confirmed Peugeot’s plan to adopt a new design line for its next models. The SR1 is featured with a set of technological innovations that aim to reduce fuel consumption as well as carbon emissions.

These images of the SR1 clearly show the new design elements that are missing from the current Peugeot models. These features include LED headlights, sculpted bonnet, sweeping sides and a chiseled rear design. The SR1 can seat up to 3 passengers since its 2+1 interior is based on a structure that improves access by allowing the rear seat to slide forward. The car uses the Hybrid4 technology, which means that power stems from a 1.6-liter THP petrol engine, which is capable of generating 218 bhp, and a rear electric unit that contributes 95 bhp. When the car is in electric only mode, it transforms into a ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle). Official figures reveal that its combined cycle fuel consumption is just 4.9 liters/100 km or 119 g/km of CO2. 2010 Geneva Motor Show: I.D.E.A Sofia Sedan Concept

Friday, March 5th, 2010

IDEA Sofia Sedan ConceptThe SOFIA sedan is said to have been influenced by the I.D.E.A ERA roadster shown at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. This influence isn’t so evident however.

It is believed that the SOFIA sedan will be equipped with a transverse-mounted V-8 engine of an undisclosed origin that has an output of up to 400 hp. Its optional hybrid system with lithium-polymer batteries adds an extra 100 hp. Either front- or rear-wheel drive can be used and hybrids would send power to all four wheels. Battery power can sustain a hybrid SOFIA for some distance but so far, no details on range or speed limitations in EV mode have been announced. At 200.6 inches, the SOFIA is an inch longer than a BMW 7-Series. It is also almost three inches wider, and about three-and-a-half inches shorter, with an identical wheelbase of 120.6 inches. With these measurements, four adults as well as the batteries for the hybrid system could be comfortably accommodated. Based in Turin, Italy, the I.D.E.A Institute claims to have the ability to handle every stage of the product development cycle from an initial sketch to prototype production. I.D.E.A. created designs for the Daihatsu Move and Fiat Tipo. Photo gallery after the jump!
