Monday, December 7th, 2009

Infiniti Essence ConceptThe response to Infiniti’s Essence Concept at this year’s Geneva Motor Show has been nothing short of “phenomenal,” according to Infiniti exec Ben Poore who spoke to Motor Trend recently.

The elation wasn’t long-lasting however, since the audience at Geneva was told at the unveiling that the vehicle was only intended to be a concept. Nonetheless, there is a glimmer of hope since Infiniti has said that its stunning design will soon influence future vehicles. Poore had told Motor Trend that the concept, a twin-turbo V6 hybrid coupe capable of a combined 592 brake horsepower, is “only a show piece… for now.” We would be one of those who would be ecstatic to see a production car that will boast a twin-turbo 3.7-liter V6 with a lithium-ion backed disc-shaped electric motor.

The carmaker is targeting buyers who are seeking to downsize and be eco-friendly and so its first car will be equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack and electric motor drivetrain used by the Nissan Leaf. At the Tokyo Motor Show, an insider told Auto Express that a small electric Infiniti and larger electric models are ”on the horizon.” Rival brand Lexus is slated to launch the production version of its LF-Ch compact hatchback concept towards the end of 2010. 2012 Infiniti M35 Hybrid breaks cover

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

2012 Infiniti M35 HybridInfiniti revealed today the M35 Hybrid, a new sedan based on the 2011 Infiniti M. Infiniti celebrates 20th anniversary with special G37 Coupe

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Infiniti G37 Coupe 20th AnniversaryIn order to commemorate its 20th anniversary, Infiniti unveiled a custom G37 Coupe at an art event in Toronto, Canada. Infiniti Canada worked with international circus group Cirque du Soleil to create this unique G37 Coupe.

The design was created by Montreal artist Heidi Taillefer who handpainted the exterior of the vehicle and took almost one month to accomplish. Infiniti partnered with Cirque du Soleil to create the G37 Coupe Anniversary design concept. Cirque du Soleil, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year as well, attended the unveiling. The task wasn’t handed to Heidi Taillefer right away. Along with other artists, she was invited to submit a design concept for the exterior of the Infiniti G37 Coupe. Her inspired design, the “Ligozzi,” was ultimately selected and she spent much of August and early September painting the vehicle. The car didn’t get any structural changes so it’s assured to still be driveable. The Anniversary Vehicle will be on tour at various Cirque du Soleil shows and other events over the coming months. Infiniti plans to eventually auction the car off for charity. Continued after the jump!
