Report: Mini Countryman/Crossman SUV on track

Mini Crossover ConceptThe Mini SUV will be unveiled and will go on sale as scheduled, according to a BMW source who talked to Autocar. Despite rumors of delays, the insider said that the new Mini SUV will be showcased at the Geneva motor show and will go on sale as expected in September.

The new SUV, which is built on a new platform, would be available in both front-wheel-drive and four-wheel drive forms. Power will come from the four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines from the existing Mini range and carry over model designations; Cooper and Cooper S will be the range-toppers. Pricing will undercut the BMW X1, indicating that there will be models that would be priced at under £20,000. The source says that the company has yet to decide what to name the first four-door Mini. It’s a toss-up between Crossman and Countryman for now.

Mini Countryman/Crossover debut delayed

Mini Countryman / CrossoverAlthough some sources said that the new Mini Countryman/Crossover will make its official debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, Bmw confirmed the fact that the new car will not show up until 2010 at the earliest. It appears that the Frankfurt Show will only see the Mini Coupe and the Mini Roadster concepts. “The Crossover launch has been pushed back as we wish to first explore differentiation within future Mini smaller models and get feedback.” said a BMW Mini spokesman. The launch is likely to be made at the Geneva Motor Show, in 2010.

Rumor: Mini Speedster and Countryman to be revealed this week

Mini Crossover ConceptAccording to the latest reports, it appears that Mini is going to reveal the Speedster/Coupe Concept this week, ahead of Frankfurt Motor Show! This move was taken by Bmw, because the German manufacturer is going to reveal new models, possibly the “most debuts ever planned for a single show”. And this is not the only surprise: the Countryman R60 Crossover will also be unveiled this week! It appears it will be a crazy week, so stay tuned because as soon as we will find out something new we will let you know!
