Mugen Euro confirms building of Honda Civic Type R Concept
Sunday, July 5th, 2009
Mugen Euro, a well known tuning company and old partner of Honda, engaged in evolving the Honda Civic in an innovative hot hatch prototype Civic Type R. The amazing model will get the same 2.0L i-VTEC engine as the Civic Mugen RR, released two years ago in Japan, but it will be improved in order to produce more power and torque.
At the outside, the new prototype will feature a deeper and wider front spoiler, a new grille, a vented bonnet, plus vents just behind the front wheels. In addition to this, the triangular exhausts from the present Civic will be replaced with two large tailpipes. The car will be fitted with new redesigned wheels and will also get upgraded brakes. Also the inside of the car suffered some modifications, the rear seats have been stripped out and the front seats were replaced with Recaro bucket seats. “In standard trim, the Civic Type R is a thrilling machine to drive. It is a fantastic base model from which we hope to develop one of the quickest point to point front-wheel-drive road cars in the country,” declared Hiro Toyoda, Vice President of Mugen Euro.
