Nissan has still to decide if will offer 370Z 40th Anniversary in the U.K.

Monday, December 14th, 2009

2010 Nissan 370Z 40th Anniversary EditionEven as deliveries of Nissan’s special 40th Anniversary Edition of the 370Z are set to start early next year in Japan and the US, the carmaker has yet to decide if UK consumers will get the chance to own one as well.

The sports car was launched on the eve of the Tokyo Motor Show in October to commemorate the Datsun 240Z, the first Z-car to go on sale in October 1969. The Nissan 370Z 40th Anniversary also commemorates the history of one of Japan’s first sports cars. In an interview with Autocar, a Nissan spokesman said that “something similar” might come out early next year. The new model gets the same 3.7-litre V6 as the standard car, mated to a manual gearbox. The special edition will also be equipped with the Sport Package, which consists of the clever SynchroRev Match system (a manual gearbox which blips the throttle automatically on downshifts), new front and rear spoilers, a limited-slip differential and upgraded Nissan Sport Brakes. The car will also be given 19-inch Rays forged alloy wheels, a ‘40th Quartz’ exterior paint job and exclusive red leather interiors. In the US, the car will be priced from $38,860 (£23,845). Nissan offering top-quality navigation system for a better price

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Nissan NavWhile most carmakers are working to install navigation systems in their lineup, Nissan ups its appeal by offering these systems at a lower cost. Currently, mapping technology isn’t limited to luxury vehicles, it now can be found in economical hatchbacks.

The problem is that an LCD screen with navigation capability will set the buyer back by more than $1,000 or $2,000 in most cases. Suzuki does it differently since it includes its TRIP nav system as standard equipment on the sub-$20k SX4. Nissan aims to change the navi pricing paradigm by offering a $400 navigation system in some of its high volume 2010 MY products. Contined after the jump!

Nissan’s 2012 Olympic fleet would have averaged 60 g/km of CO2

Friday, November 27th, 2009

Nissan LEAF EVThe London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) defends its choice of BMW as its automotive partner for the games, saying that it best matched its average 120g/km emissions targets.

Still, detractors surmise that Nissan’s 2012 Olympic fleet would have averaged 60g/km of CO2, far lower than what the games’ organizers had required. According to a senior Nissan source, Nissan’s average emissions were the lowest of all the bidders. The source considers LOCOG’s decision to be a “backwards step” for the capital’s chances of creating an electric infrastructure. The source added that it doesn’t have a problem with BMW getting the contract but then, Nissan feels that LOCOG missed out on a chance to “kick-start a proper electric infrastructure in London.” Half of Renault-Nissan’s 4,000-strong fleet would have consisted of all-electric Nissan Leafs, which will go into production within a year.
