Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Peugeot 508As you may know already we reported back in August about the Peugeot 408, the successor of the popular 407. Today we found out something interesting from our sources from Peugeot: the successor of the 407 will not be the 408 as everyone expected, it is going to be called 508! Why? Well it is quite simple!

Our source indicated that this change was needed because the new car will not only replace the 407, but also the 607. It appears that the new vehicle will also carry a hybrid version and will be the base for the next crossover. Apparently, we will see a Prologue 508 Concept at next year’s Paris Motor Show and the production version is expected in spring of 2011.

Peugeot has pioneered the diesel hybrid in cars like the 3008 and plans to extend the technology to its next generation of saloons.
