Many of you know the history of Peugeot’s GTI badge and loved the hot hatches like 106, 205 and 306 GTI which now became legendary. Unfortunately today we have a bad news: the French manufacturer decided to kill the GTI badge and all its history with it.

Why? Well, according to Peugeot marketing director Christian Stein, Peugeot wants to move away from hot hatches towards premium sports coupes. “For us, the GTI concept is dead. We will move away from hot hatches towards premium sports coupes.” said Christian Stein. One of these premium sports coupes is also the recently launched RCZ, a direct rival to the Audi TT. And this is not all: it appears that Peugeot is also considering to introduce new coupe smaller than the RCZ, a possible competitor to the upcoming Audi A1!
