Toyota dealers start fixing the recalled vehicles

2010 Toyota VenzaToyota has set things in motion for its dealers and customers in the US to do their part to get the accelerator pedals in the recalled cars fixed. Toyota has shipped parts, disseminated information and conducted training. In fact, repairs have begun. Repairing each car takes about 30 minutes.

Furthermore, Toyota has begun to mail letters to the car owners affected by the recall. As soon as the owner gets the letter, he is instructed to contact a local Toyota dealer and set an appointment to get his vehicle fixed. Jim Lentz, president and Chief Operating Officer, TMS, said that safety and reliability are the most important things to the company and its customers. He said that Toyota wants to live up to the standards people have come to expect from the carmaker for the past 50 years. Lentz added that they’re focused on ensuring that this recall is trouble-free for its customers. Toyota is providing the resources and support dealers need to get the cars fixed quickly. He said that in fact, many dealers are working extended hours and adding service technicians and other staff to complete the recall campaign as conveniently as possible.

Toyota will soon offer to fix the accelerator pedals of up to 4 million vehicles

2010 Lexus ESToyota Motor Corp. is expected to soon issue a notice to fix the accelerator pedals of up to 4 million vehicles in the US under a deal with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Kyodo News reports. Toyota and the NTHSA are believed to have come to an agreement over the largest safety recall ever with Toyota offering to voluntarily repair the accelerator pedals, according to sources who spoke with Kyodo News.
