2010 Vw TouaregAn all-new Volkswagen Touareg will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January (this was also confirmed by us back in August in this post). That the line-up will include a hybrid from the outset is a pleasant surprise. This petrol-electric Touareg is actually VW’s first production hybrid. It will be the first of several new hybrid and electric models that will be launched by VW in 2013. Continued after the jump!

2011 Vw Touareg coming the the Detroit Auto Show

2011 Vw TouaregMost of you folks know that Volkswagen is currently working on a successor for the popular Touareg SUV but nobody knows when the new car will be launched… until today! Speaking with our trusted sources from the German manufacturer, we found out that the new Touareg SUV will make its official debut in 2010 at the Detroit Auto Show.

The second generation of the Touareg also means a weight lose because the Germans are counting on massive use aluminium in order to make the new vehicle lighter. Regarding the engines, Vw is planning to bring new engines, more powerful and with a better fuel consumption! One bad news is that the 2011 Vw Touareg will lose the V8 engine in favor of a supercharged V6.Regarding the hybrid version of the SUV, this will carry a system developed by Bosch, capable to develop around 50 hp and connected to the 3.0 TSI V6 petrol engine. Our sources confirm the same system also on the upcoming Porsche Cayenne Hybrid! More detaiks to be revealed!

Dakar Rally won by diesel-powered Vw Touareg

Vw Touareg DakarLast Sunday Team Vw made history in Argentina with the very first diesel-powered victory in the Dakar Rally.

What is more is that the team’s TDI-engined Touareg, driven by the South African driver Giniel de Villers with German co-driver Dirk von Zitzewitz, crossed 5000 km of competitive rallying almost 9 minutes ahead of the closes rival, sister VW of USA/South Africa with Mark Miller and Ralph Pitchford. Third place, which was 100 minutes away, went to Robby Gordon who was driving the American Hummer.
