Tata increases production of its popular new Nano city

Tata NanoProduction of the Tata Nano will be bumped up by about 20% starting this month. This move hardly makes a dent in answering the demand for the car but it‚ a start. Before its launching, the Tata Nano suffered marketing and production delays. But today, Tata is ‚Äúgearing up for a higher number,‚Äù according to Rajiv Dube, leader of Tata‚ passenger car operations. Each month, Tata is able to sell an average of 2,500 Nanos. The 20% increase in production capacity will allow it to sell almost 3,000 units monthly. But there‚ much demand for it and it only scratches the surface. Tata received more than 500,000 applications to purchase the car and so Tata had to conduct a lottery to select the first 100,000 customers.
