The cheapest car, the Nano, might soon be seen in US roads in three years but before that, it could arrive in Europe by the end of 2011. The chairman of India's Tata Motors, Ratan Tata, said that the company recognizes the market for the Nano in developing as well as developed countries. For the US, Tata said that a car with a larger engine is needed. It would also have to be given additional crash test modifications. We all learned about Tata Motors's interest to bring the Nano to the US last summer.
In June, Ratan Tata said during a gathering at Cornell University that the Nano will arrive in the US in two years. David Good, a U.S. representative for Tata, later changed that to „two years and six months." The US has long been regarded as the world's largest auto market, but this year, China surpassed it with about 13 million vehicles sold. As an interesting piece of tidbit, the Nano gained plenty of recognition when it was showcased by Ratan Tata at the previous edition of the New Delhi auto show two years ago.
