Tata Motors may make checks on all Nanos sold until now

Tata Motors chose to play down the three incidents reported of Nanos catching fire within the past month, insisting that there will be no recalls since there is no technical or design fault with the car. A total of 7,500 Nanos have been released so far and it's possible that the company may have to make checks on all of them. The Hindustan Times report lists the incidents: a Nano caught fire in Ahmedabad last month followed by two similar incidents in Lucknow and Delhi. The incidents have cast serious doubts about the safety of the vehicle.
In a TV channel CNBC TV18 interview, Delhi-based Sunil Kumar Panwanda claimed his daughter parked the car outside his home early afternoon but the car caught fire after three hours. He said that he just wants a refund for his money. Ahmedabad's Ravindra Bhagat, who had a similar experience, said that he now believes a bigger car is better.
He also doesn´t want a replacement. Tata Motors said that the cars have no defect and that the fires came about due to short circuits. Tata Motors spokesman Debasis Ray said that they have yet to look at the car in New Delhi but that the cars in Lucknow and Ahmedabad have been repaired and there was just a short circuit in the car's combination switch area. He adds, This is not a generic problem.
