Tesla launches a new lease program for the Roadster

Tesla has launched a new lease program for the Roadster, a two-seat EV sports car. With a price of more than $100,000, the decision to buy one cant be an easy decision for most people. Tesla thinks that the lease program will get more people to test the Roadster and to decide to eventually own one. Under the Tesla Motors Leasing program, the potential customer would have to give $12,453 at signing, along with a $9,900 down payment. The leases last 36 months, with monthly payments of about $1,658. On the other hand, Tesla's purchase plan, which is offered through Bank of America, would cost an extra $1200 each month. To entice customers further, Tesla's new Tesla Rangers service is included in the cost of the lease. Instead of having to bring the car to a dealership, the Rangers can perform service and maintenance tasks at the owner's home. This service typically costs at least $1 per round-trip mile traveled. To raise demand, Tesla has prepared a handful of Roadsters with the most popular colors and options.
