Tesla Model S receives over 1,000 orders

Tesla removed the wraps off of its drivable prototype Model S Sedan at Elon Musks SpaceX headquarters over a month ago and started receiving reservations for the model. Even if the company has not even started building the facilities to build the car, nevertheless there are in excess of 1,000 reservations, of $5,000 each, that have been made. During the first week Tesla was surprised to receive no less than 520 reservations, a number that has exceeded the company's internal forecast. Spokesmen from the company point to these facts as evidence that there is a bottle-up demand for less-expensive and economical cars even those that are American made.
With the continuing interest in the Model S, Tesla has changed its strategy by praising the characteristics of the electric-driven sedan. The company claims that it comes with a better value compared to much cheaper traditional vehicles. Besides the significant ecological advantages of the car, lower total cost of owning one will become the most important reason why buyers will shift from gas-gobbling cars to Electric Vehicles. The total lower cost of the Model S depends on the higher priced gasoline. However, with the present fuel rates, the computation is not that clearly advantageous, although the company expects the price of gasoline to experience hikes with the improvement of the economy.
