Three employees of Tesla Motors were killed in a small airplane crash

In Northern California, a Cessna 310 struck an electrical tower and crashed into a residential neighborhood, killing three Tesla Motors employees. Local police say that Tesla confirmed all had worked at the company. CEO Elon Musk said that the names would be withheld since they´re still in the process of notifying their families. Musk gave a statement about this tragic day, saying that Tesla is a small, tightly-knit company. As more people seek clean-energy alternatives, electric car manufacturer Tesla has expanded further and has gained a firm reputation. Just last month, Tesla had filed for an initial public offering of up to $100 million.
Musk is a co-founder and currently runs Tesla. You may have heard about Musk before as he is a co-founder of online payments service provider PayPal. From what little that had been released about the crash, the three who died were mid-level engineers. The plane was registered to Air Unique Inc. in Santa Clara, Calif. with Tesla engineer Doug Bourn.
It is unclear if Bourn was on board. At 7 am PST, the plane left the Palo Alto Airport bound for Hawthorne Municipal Airport in Southern California. It lost power before striking the tower, breaking off a wing, according to East Palo Alto Police Department Captain John Chalmers. *Update:The San Jose Mercury News reported that the three people aboard the plane were Doug Bourn, 56, a senior electrical engineer; Andrew Ingram, 31, an electrical engineer; and Brian Finn, 42, a senior manager of interactive electronics.
