2009 Honda CR-Z Concept

Honda revealed today the 2009 CR-Z Concept which is set to make its official debut at this year's Tokyo Motor Show (of course, this is not new for 4WheelsNews readers because we announced the coming of the new vehicle back in June, in this post). The so-called concept is actually the production version of the CR-Z and is set to hit the dealerships next year.

Although its power figure has yet to be revealed, the manufacturer confirmed the 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to Honda's proprietary Integrated Motor Assist technology or IMA. The system is derived from the Insight and instead the 87 hp developed by the 1.3-litre petrol motor it comes with a higher-output 1.5 i-VTEC unit.

This engine is expected to deliver between 110 and 120 hp and a better fuel consumption than the Insight. The transmission of this new vehicle will be a six-speed manual gearbox, which we must say it is quite unusual, because most of the hybrids use a CVT or automatic. The final version of the CR-Z will be unveiled next year at the Detroit Auto Show and the deliveries will start in February 2010, in Japan of course!
