Nissan Vanette has been deemed to have met Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's universal-design taxi concept and will go on sale by the end of 2010. The NV200 Vanette Taxi is based on the all-new Nissan Vanette, which was introduced last May and will be showcased at this year's Tokyo Motor Show.
The Vanette Taxi has been described to be a new breed of commuter, featuring a stylish form and roomy, comfortable interior. It stands out from the rest due to features that are designed to support the needs of the elderly and disabled. Nissan has made it part of its efforts that these elderly and the disabled be independent in their daily and social lives.
Nissan has a vision of helping build a society where everyone can live comfortably. The Vanette Taxi is designed to suit the needs of any customer with its spacious cabin providing plenty of room for all passengers, including those in wheelchairs. Due to a low waistline and high seating position, the open, airy interior feel is enhanced. It also allows for more passenger visibility.
The taxi has rails and other details that make it easy to enter and exit. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has been promoting the universal-design taxi concept based on special design guidelines.
