Toyota Avensis range updated

2009 Toyota Avensis

If you´ve been meaning to buy a car from the Toyota Avensis range, you should know that recent updates have led to more options. You can now choose from two new engines, revised trim choices and new safety kit. You´ll be glad to know that you can now take your car from 0-62mph in 10.4sec due to the new entry-level 130bhp 1.6 Valvematic petrol engine. It averages 43.5mpg and emits 152g/km of CO2 and is linked to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. If you want more power, you can opt for the other new engine -- a 148bhp 2.2 D-CAT 150 diesel that takes the Avensis from 0-62mph in 9.5sec. It averages 44.1mpg and emits 169g/km of CO2 and is linked to a six-speed automatic gearbox as standard. In addition, a new Pre-Crash Safety (PCS) pack can be specified for top-spec Avensis models with the new 2.2 D-CAT 150 engine. With the use of radar, the system activates when a collision is imminent. A warning is initially sent to the driver, but if the system considers that a crash is unavoidable, it triggers seatbelt pre-tensioners and applies the brakes at full force.
