Toyota Camry remains the uncontested sales leader of midsize car segment

Although Toyota has been hit by the recalling of millions of cars, it appears that the Japanese manufacturer remains the leader of the midsize car segment with the popular Camry, followed by Honda with their Accord. We must tell you that Honda sells three versions of the Accord: coupe, sedan and crosstour. Honda sold 22,506 Accord models, while Toyota sold more than 30,000 Camrys. Meanwhile, Hyundai sold 21,399 Sonatas, which means that the Korean manufacturer is preparing to take the second place in the midsize car segment.

The new Sonata overtook the Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima, and the Chevrolet Malibu. Each of these cars generated fewer than 19,000 sales in August. "We haven't been able to catch the Accord and Camry, but we've done very well said John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai Motor America. According to the latest reports, it appears that the prospective midsize car buyers who are considering a Sonata has jumped to 19.5 percent, a big increase if we comparing with the 6.7 percent in January 2007.

Apparently, one of the reasons people would consider buying a Sonata is the 10 years or 100,000 miles warranty. Also, another reason is the space offered by the Sonata. And the best reason to buy one, would be the price: the Sonata GLS model starts at $19,195, and the sporty SE starts at $22,595, which means that the car is cheaper than the Camry and Accord.
