Toyota dealerships adding Market Value Adjustments of up to $5,000

2010 Toyota Prius

There are reports coming in saying that some dealerships are capitalizing on the popularity of the Toyota Prius by not honoring Toyota's MSRP. A number of dealerships are adding so-called Market Value Adjustments of up to $5,000 (possibly more) on some Prius models, especially those equipped with the hard-to-find solar sunroof option. It‚ speculated that the Cash for Clunkers program, which ended recently, increased the demand for the 2010 Prius. The $4,500 rebate may make it easier for dealers to hide an extra surcharge to the car's asking price. These reports are disappointing but if you do a bit of smart shopping and make a survey of the dealerships near you, you may just find one that honors Toyota's MSRP.
