Amid rumors that Toyota will halt production on one of its production lines in the UK, a source has denied these reports and has said that the reports had been lost in translation, according to a report from Autocar. These rumors most likely stemmed from reports in Japan claiming the UK could follow the lead of one of Toyota's plants in Japan, which has shut one of its production lines for the next 18 months to cut costs. The source has said that there are no plans to close any production lines in the UK and that this is highly unlikely to change in the future. Toyota employs around 4,000 people in the UK, including those at Burnaston, and it builds Auris and Avensis models at the Derbyshire plant. The source adds that it has only recently started building the latest Avensis at Burnaston and there are plans to extend next year when Toyota starts building the Auris hybrid there.
