Amid signs that the economies of Japan, the US, and Europe are recovering, Toyota Motor Corp. said that it expects a 17% increase in its 2010 global production (excluding Daihatsu and Hino Motors) to 7.5 million units compared to this year. According to the reports from Japanese media, the figure is similar to Toyota's output in 2005. But compared to 2007, this figure is less one million units. The Nikkei said that the actual number of units to be produced in 2010 would actually exceed what is projected because the impact from the extended government subsidies has not been taken into account yet. A Toyota spokesman said that this figure is still a rough estimate but that the carmaker had already informed its suppliers of its production plans for the coming year. He explained that Toyota will announce a finalized forecast in January, which is when the carmaker is likely to finish compiling the information.
