Toyota may have trouble meeting its 2010 sales target

US auto industry is expected to post an increase in sales, which is a marked increase over the prior year. Toyota anticipates a sharp drop in sales after it halted the production and sales of its most popular vehicles in the last week of January. The recall of 2.3 million vehicles, including North American-built Camrys and Corollas, came about as a result of complaints on faulty accelerator pedals. Toyota, which is currently No. 2 in U.S. auto sales behind GM, has said that it has found a way to fix potentially sticky accelerator pedals in the recalled vehicles.
