As part of a strategy to restore the customers’ trust after the massive recalls, Toyota Motor Corp. is launching two new US service plans that will be offered as standard with Toyota and Scion brand vehicles. These plans – dubbed Toyota Care and Scion Service Boost – were announced in an Oct. 6 statement. They take effect immediately. Toyota said that these plans offer free factory scheduled maintenance and 24-hour roadside assistance for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first. With this offer, Toyota becomes the first full-line brand to offer a complimentary maintenance plan as a standard feature.
Last spring, Toyota rolled out no-cost maintenance plans as part of the same strategy to gain back its reputation. Toyota decided to make these plans standard after getting feedback that 73% of the customers with the support service said it improved their confidence in Toyota. These new plans will be publicized through a nationwide advertising campaign that started on Oct. 6.
In a press release, Bob Carter, Toyota Division group vice president and general manager, said that these two complimentary maintenance plans were created “to help improve overall cost of ownership and provide invaluable peace of mind for our customers.” These plans cover all normal factory-recommended maintenance services mentioned in each vehicle's owners manual. This includes oil and filter changes, tire rotations, lubrication of key chassis parts/components, a 19-point inspection and 24-hour roadside assistance.
