Toyota planning to introduce new range of budget sports cars

In order to stimulate poor car demand among young drivers, it appears that Toyota is set to launch a new range of budget sports vehicles. Toyota already released G Sports (or G’s) conversion series for the Voxy and Noah minivans (sold in Japan), and it plans to launch a sports edition of the Prius hybrid car as well as a production version of the GRMN sports concept car (built by Hiromu Naruse, who recently died in a Lexus LFA crash). Currently, it seems that young drivers don’t find the Toyota cars attractive or fun to drive, but Toyota wants to change this and start building cars with an improved design line, such as the FT-86. "We want to offer more cars that are fun to drive and make people think 'Toyota is interesting,'" said Toyota Vice President Takeshi Uchiyamada. "Sales performance is not our primary concern." he added. [via mainichi]
