Toyota prepared to delay the launch of forthcoming models

Toyota has said that it is willing to delay their launch if it cannot be completely satisfied with quality and safety standards. These vehicles -- which include the upcoming Auris, Auris HSD and RAV4 models ‚ will undergo stringent quality testing. Toyota‚ strict new quality control guidelines were introduced amid the crisis due to recalls from sticking accelerator pedals. In an interview with the Sunday Telegraph, Tadashi Arashima, the chief executive of Toyota Motor Europe, asserted that the new models have absolutely no defects. Continued after the jump! In particular, Arashima said that he wants to see British-built Auris HSD launched ‚Äúproperly,‚Äù saying that it‚ a key car for the carmaker. Arashima added that they have discussed that if required, the launch timing could be postponed. He cited the hybrid in late May [Auris HSD], which ‚Äúis really key.‚Äù Toyota confirmed that development is on track and there are no plans to postpone any new launches. Toyota has appointed a chief quality officer for each of its sales regions. The first meeting of these officers is set on March 30. They report directly to Toyota boss Akio Toyoda. Toyota also plans to fit an aeroplane-style black box recorder on its cars to record any malfunctions.
