As Toyota is planning to present the full hybrid technology throughout its core model range, it proceeds with refining the quality, performance and owner-appeal of Prius (which keeps its title as the most popular and top-selling hybrid vehicle in the world). Since the Prius was launched in 2009, it has generated more than 20,000 sales in the UK. However, the third-generation Prius comes with an even more impressive set of features.
The Prius’ appeal is centered mostly on its excellent efficiency. Its current version still could only offer a CO2 emissions level of 89g/k. It also has a combined cycle fuel economy of 72.4mpg. Meanwhile, the figures for models that have 17-inch wheels have been maintained with 92g/km and 70.6mpg. With the start of the new year, the vehicle comes with improvements to its interior and exterior. The front of the car has a new appearance to go with the automaker’s new design approach. Meanwhile, the cabin has new front seats, new upholstery and new soft-touch surfaces that offer a higher quality feel. Equipment levels were raised, especially as it has been given the Toyota Touch touchscreen control system as a standard feature. The advanced Toyota Touch & Go Plus multimedia and navigation system is fitted as standard on the Prius T Spirit and is considered as an option on T3 & T4.
It also gets Bluetooth, a rear-view camera, USB port and an on-board connectivity feature that leads to a lineup of the on-line information services that are sourced through Google Local Search with the use of a compatible mobile phone. It’s possible that additional stiffness in the bodyshell and revisions to the suspension and steering column have boosted comfort and steering feel. This March, the revised model range would be offered in the UK with a starting price of £21,350. The Prius is expected to grow further with the entry of the ultra-efficient Prius Plug-in Hybrid and Prius+, the first seven-seat full hybrid MPV in the world.
