Toyota Racing unveils revised TS030 Hybrid car for Le Mans

2013 Toyota TS030 HYBRID

Toyota Racing has unveiled the revised TS030 Hybrid car that it will field in the Le Mans 24 Hours and the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) this season. The team will commence the first full test of the 2013 TS030 Hybrid car at Paul Ricard, France tomorrow. Toyota Racing will be fielding a two-car team for the 2013 WEC season. Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima will be piloting the TS030 Hybrid #7 while Anthony Davidson, Stéphane Sarrazin and Sébastien Buemi will be driving the TS030 Hybrid #8 which will compete outside of Le Mans for the first time. The 2013 TS030 Hybrid employs a revised version of the Toyota Racing hybrid system first utilized last year. The super capacitor-based system provides 300hp of boost automatically, on top of the 530hp produced by a 3.4 litre, normally-aspirated V8 petrol engine. Toyota Racing has fine-tuned the TS030 Hybrid’s powertrain, chassis and aerodynamics to enhance power, efficiency, management of component usage and reliability -- ahead of the new regulations to be enforced next year. The team will be competing in the following WEC events: Silverstone, United Kingdom on April 14; Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium on May 4; Le Mans, France on June 22; Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 1; Austin, United States on September 22; Fuji, Japan on October 20; Shanghai, China on November 10; Bahrain on November 30.
