Toyota reveals Verso MPV ahead of the Geneva Motor Show

The introduction of the brand new Toyota Verso MPV in next week's Geneva Motor Show will be updating the carmaker's European lineup. Although it is loosely derived from the U.S. Toyota Matrix, the Verso comes with more space, comfort and usability and has taken advantage of the most current passenger and pedestrian safety features. Improvements over the preceding model consist of increase in power and torque by 20% for most powerplants together with 12% less CO2 emissions and fuel utilization. Lineup of powertrain consists of 1.6 and 1.8-liter Valvematic gasoline units, paired to either 6-speed manual or new Multidrive S CVT together with 2.0 and 2.2-liter turbodiesels. Later this year a new 6-speed auto transmission is set to join the lineup. The new Verso has been stretched by up to 70mm in length and 20mm between the axles in order to enhance interior space. It is also fitted with aerodynamic improvements to guarantee that the larger Verso keeps a low drag coefficient of 0.29Cd. The new Verso can sit seven adults and comes with three row-seating and the new Easy Flat-7 storage system by Toyota. The system is basically the folding down of the five rear seats to permit an increase in storge room for more cargo accommodation.
