Toyota to recall 412,000 cars in the United States

2002 Toyota AvalonToyota announced today that it will recall recall 412,000 high-end passenger cars in the United States in order to fix steering problems. Toyota will recall 373,000 of its 2000-2004 model year Avalon sedans because these vehicles showed a problem at the steering lock bar which could break under certain conditions. It will also recall 39,000 of its 2003-2007 model year Lexus LX470 sports utility in order to eliminate the risk of steering shaft disengagement. Apparently, Toyota received reports of three accidents involving the Avalon models but the good news is that no injuries have been reported. Regarding the Lexus LX470, no accidents or injuries have been reported.
