Toyota unveils details for new ProAce medium-sized van

2013 Toyota ProAce Van

Toyota is hoping that its new Toyota ProAce medium-sized van will further expand its presence in the European light commercial vehicle markets. The customizable ProAce is available in two lengths and heights, giving customers a choice between three load capacities: 5 cubic meters, 6 cubic meters or 7 cubic meters. The Toyota ProAce has a payload capacity of up to 1,200 kg and a towing capacity of up to two tons. A buyer could transform the ProAce into a medium-sized van which has the usability and capability to suit his needs. He could specify two sliding side doors and choose between a top-hinged tailgate and dual side-hinged rear doors that open to 270 degrees. A buyer could also specify the ProAce as a panel van, glass van or crew cab – depending on his business transport needs.

To match the ProAce’s versatility and capability with comfort and convenience, Toyota has the driver’s seat set high and installed a large windscreen for excellent visibility and an MPV-like environment on-board. For convenience, ProAce is fitted with electric windows, central remote door locking and an adjustable steering position. Toyota will release details of optional equipment items near the rollout date. The Toyota ProAce also boasts of standard safety features like ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control and daytime running lights.

ProAce will be available with three Euro 5-compliant diesel engine options: a 89bhp, 180Nm 1.6-litre diesel engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission; a 126bhp, 320Nm 2.0-litre diesel paired with a six-speed manual gearbox; or a 161bhp, 340Nm 2.0-litre diesel matched with a six-speed manual transmission. With a fuel tank capacity of around 80 liters, the 2.0-litre variants of ProAce provide over 770 miles of theoretical driving range. Toyota will start selling the ProAce in Spring 2013, with first deliveries scheduled during the second quarter of the year.
