Toyota’s November US auto sales fall by 7.3%

November has been a very good month for big automakers when it comes to sales – all except Toyota. Its sales fell 7.3% in November and up 0.6% so far in 2010. Similar to the trend in October, it was the trucks and SUVs that kept Toyota moving forward in November. Overall, the Toyota division fell by 7.6% year-over-year while Lexus dropped by 5.5%. The Toyota brand includes Scion's three models. The only Toyota cars that sold better in November compared to the same month last year are Prius and Avalon.
Sales of the Prius were up 1.9% while the Avalon got a 7.8% increase. The Yaris fell the most last month, with a 42% drop to 2,154 units. The Corolla and Camry decreased by slightly under 30%. Toyota’s Venza fell 22.1% in November. In Toyota’s SUV lineup, the Highlander midsize crossover had the best run, with a 41.2% increase compared to November 2009.
Meanwhile, the Sienna minivan went up by 4%. The 4Runner went past last year's sales figures. The RAV4 kept its lead as Toyota's topselling SUV, with 12,306 units sold last month. Both the Tacoma and Tundra had a positive sales month. From January to November of the year, sales the Tacoma dropped by 6.6% (95,228 units) while the Tundra is up 18.5% (83,296 units).
