2010 Honda CR-Z by HKS
The Honda CR-Z is a vehicle that has been touted as an example of a sporty hybrid but when it comes down to figures, it doesn't actually belong in the sports cars segment. That is what prompted tuners to modify this 2+2 seater compact to make it truly belong in the sporty segment. Tuning firm HKS is the latest to have released a package based on the CR-Z. HKS has been in the limelight for its top spec performance packages, including the GT570 kit for the Nissan GT-R.
HKS gave the CR-Z a fully adjustable Hypermax II suspension system, enabling the driver the change the car's handling. The new suspension also brings the CR-Z closer to the road as it can lower the vehicle's ride height by up to 37 mm. HKS also made changes on the 1.5 liter petrol engine included in the car's hybrid powertrain.
The tuner installed a new air intake and sport muffler that makes the unit breathe better and give it a unique sound. An ECU remap completes the engine upgrade. The stock CR-Z delivers 122hp but HKS has yet to reveal the effect that its upgrades have on the power. HKS also said that it removed the CR-Z's electronic speed limiter, which Honda used to limit the CR-Z to a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h).
