The latest BRABUS 800 Coupe makes its international launch at the 2011 Dubai International Motor Show. It is considered to be the most powerful and fastest luxury coupe in the world. The vehicle is based on the newest Mercedes CL 600 BRABUS. On top of the vehicle's second-to-none performance, the vehicle's most impressive features are its exclusive high-class interior and sporty-elegant design.
The CL 600's 12-cylinder engine is intensively reengineered in the BRABUS engine-building shop equipped with innovative machine equipment.
Displacement is boosted to 6.3 liters or 336 cu. in. from 5.5 liters or 384 cu. in. with the help of a special BRABUS crankshaft with larger cylinder bore, correspondingly larger forged pistons and longer stroke.
With the extensive changes, the BRABUS 800 V12 Biturbo engine provides unparalleled performance statistics. Specifically, the engine delivers a maximum rated power output of 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW at a low 5,500 rpm.
It also has a peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 ft-lb) available from 2,100 rpm. In the car, peak torque is restricted electronically to 1,100 Nm (811 ft-lb). Power is shifted to the back wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission, which was reinforced to handle the huge power, and the BRABUS high-performance limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40%.
The coupe keeps all the modern vehicle stability systems, which can be turned off at the push of a button. The exclusive two-door vehicle sprints from 0 km/h to 100 km/h (62 mph) in only 3.9 seconds. It reaches 200 km/h (124 mph) after a mere 10.3 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 350 km/h (217 mph).
Since the Brabus 800 Coupe could go as fast as 350 kilometers per hour, its wind tunnel-developed aerodynamic elements will be surely put to the test. For instance, the Brabus front spoiler comes with a sophisticated shape that could reduce aerodynamic lift on the front axle, thereby improving the car’s directional stability at high speed. Its rear end, meanwhile, is fitted with an understated rear spoiler on the trunk lid and a rear fascia insert.
The insert – which replaces its production counterpart in the bumper -- comes with a central reflector and a custom-tailored cutout on either side to accommodate the four tailpipes of the Brabus sport exhaust system. Available in sizes between 18 inches and 22 inches, the Brabus Monoblock wheels boast of a thrilling design and top quality and deliver enhanced driving dynamics.
However, customers are advised to avail of the Brabus Monoblock 21-inch wheels --available as Monoblock VI, E or F designs -- to safely take advantage of the Brabus 800 Coupe’s remarkable performance.
These wheels are wrapped in high-performance tires -- in size 265/30 ZR 21 in front and 295/25 ZR 21 on the rear – from Brabus technology partners Continental, Pirelli and Yokohama. To optimize these ultra-low-profile tires, the Brabus 800 Coupe features a Brabus ride-height lowering module for the standard ABC suspension, allowing the body to be lowered by around 25 mm (one inch).
Taking care of the two-seat coupe’s braking performance is the version IV of the Brabus high-performance brake system, which employs six-piston aluminum fixed calipers and vented and cross-drilled discs measuring 405mm by 34mm (16 x 1.3 inches) on the front as well as four-piston fixed aluminum and braking discs measuring 380mm x 34 mm (15.0 x 1.34 inches) on the rear.
