Article by Christian A., on August 29, 2010

The German tuning specialist Wimmer Rennsporttechnik Solingen is well known for transforming production vehicles into faster and hotter machines. Currently their car of choice is the latest Porsche 997 GT2 Biturbo which came with 680hp.

When Wimmer RS was finished with it the power output was already 680hp and 870Nm make the car as appropriate on the race tracks as it is on the streets.

This boost in potency was reached via a bi-turbo unit, enhancement of the popwerplant management in tandem with two optimized turbochargers from Wimmer, a bespoke sport exhaust system from Wimmer that comes with two 100 Zeller sport catalysts, cylinder head development, sport camshafts, and a sport clutch system.

The price for such upgrades is 29,000 Euros which includes everything including installation and left-lane guarantee. The tuner claims that the sprint rate of the car is 3.4 seconds for 0-100km/h and by 9.78 seconds the car hits 200km/h, and at 25.8 seconds the speed machine hits 300km/h.

Congingent on the level of conversion and tire clearance, the top speed is pegged at 356km/h. The Wimmer Porsche 977 GT2 comes with DTM-approved race Dunlop tires, the MaxxPerformance-tires.

Measuring 235/30-20 and 325/25-20 around Sportec rims provide the maximum stability at the highest possible speed, even far beyond the 300km/h mark. Visually, the car is enhanced by exterior mirrors and carbon spoiler lip at the rear, although all the parts of the car can be carbonized upon customer request.

H&R components improved the chassis to accommodate the increased potency of the car. All the power under the hood sounds superb at the rear end via the Wimmer RS exhaust system that has been made by hand and comes with optimizes back pressure.
